New Year, Better You

Ready to Soar in 2024, New Year Inspiration

Every year, I think most people crave a fresh start. We pursue a new year in which we make up for our deficits in the previous twelve months and finally receive some good fortune. Some may say that it's naive, but there is nothing wrong with reflecting, setting intentions and striving to be better.

And for all of us that have survived the past four years, we are desperately hoping to catch a break this year. My generation is ready for some calm. At times, it's difficult for me to envision creating a larger positive impact in the lives of others when every time we turn around something terrible is happening in the world.

But, I feel "ready to soar in 2024" because I know I have been putting in work to help future me "spread my wings" in new ways and have a more joyful year. We can experience conflicting emotions at the same time. I can strive to handle situations differently, be more patient, learn more about others and still experience heartbreak for myself and others. Part of life is learning how to handle challenges, setbacks and loss in a healthy way. We can strive to not let the darkness extinguish our light. And when all we see is darkness around us, we can choose to be the light for others.

I am not at all where I thought I would be in December when I made a big life change in the spring. Instead of waiting to feel like I am in the right place with all of the necessary resources, I plan to start bringing ideas that I have had in my head for a long time into fruition. More action and less overthinking. One of those things is this website and blog. I have a much fuller vision for how I want it to expand and what I can offer for you, but in order to get there I had to take this first step.

Thank you for taking the time to read my first post. If anything here resonates with you, I hope you continue to come back. You can also follow @mentallyherecommunity on Instagram and TikTok for more frequent and shorter content.
